What does self-competence mean?

In short: Self-competence is the ability to perceive, accept, and consciously develop oneself.

The Salig/Theissler self-competence model offers a clear and structured approach to personal growth, resilience, and self-mastery. Developed through work with over 1,000 patients in the psychological services of various clinics, it has proven extremely effective both in individual development and in therapeutic contexts.

Self-competence is the ability to perceive, understand, and develop oneself holistically. It is based on self-awareness as a foundation and unfolds through self-acceptance and self-responsibility, supported by active self-care. These elements enable the development of healthy self-esteem, which is expressed in self-love, self-awareness, and self-confidence.

Our vision

CHANGE (Y)OUR WORLD

The more people develop their self-competence, the more positively society as a whole evolves. A society built on self-competence is more resilient, innovative, and compassionate. It thrives on mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and sustainable solutions. In such a society, both quiet and loud voices are heard, diversity is embraced, and everyone’s potential is valued. This makes life not only richer for the individual but also ensures a more sustainable and thriving future for all. Developing self-competence is not just a path to personal growth - it is a key to societal transformation.
